The Old Church Community Center is a safe, fun, family atmosphere where our community can come relax in the sun, swim some laps and enjoy refreshments from our snack bar. Members and non members also have access to our 2400 square foot community center complete with tables and chairs, bathrooms, a fireplace and a full kitchen as well as an open air pavilion with charcoal grills and an outdoor fireplace. Pool Schedule

Monday Through Saturday from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM with adult swim the last ten minutes of every hour.

Sunday from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM with adult swim the last ten minutes of every hour.

Events and Info.

Spring is finally here! The pool will open on Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 25th.

The season schedule is as follows:

-Each weekend (Saturday & Sunday) until Thursday, June 13th, the last day of school. Saturdays (10-8), Sundays (1-8) -Open, Thursday, June 13th 2pm – 8 pm -Open, Friday, June 14th 10am – 8pm -Then every day for the rest of the summer.

Rules changes/updates for 2013:

Floats

– will still be allowed, but ONLY if they are for 1 person and transparent/see-through. The number of floats allowed in the pool at one time will be determined by the lifeguards. If the lifeguards feel the situation is unsafe due to the number of floats in the pool, then you may be asked to remove your float.

Back-diving/flipping off the diving board

– will still be allowed unless the lifeguard feels the member is not coming off the board in a safe manner.

Cross-pool

– the rules and times for cross-pool will be the same as last year. It cannot be played between the top of the hour and 0:30 past the hour, if members are using the diving board. It can be played between 00:30 and 00:50 past the hour with no diving board interruptions. There is not running to jump in the pool. Only 1 step is permitted from the sides before diving in.

With the above rules, as with all other pool rules, the lifeguards are there for your safety and to enforce the rules to make it a safe and enjoyable experience of all members. Disobeying the rules and arguing with the lifeguards about their decisions on safety will not be tolerated.

 

Thanks to all that came out to help during the cleanup day April 20th. It was another successful year with a great turnout. Special thanks to everyone that came out.

We currently have 11 new members this year, so please introduce yourself if you see someone you don’t recognize. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Memorial.

 

WANTED: A small refrigerator to hold drinks for the snack bar. If you have a small refrigerator that you are not using and would be willing to donate to the pool, please call Lynwood Atkinson at 874-3697 as soon as possible.

 

Memorial Day Cookout is Monday, May 27 at 1 p. m.

Lunch will start at 1pm. Hot dogs will be provided by the Board. Please bring a dish to share that will feed at least 10 people, so there is plenty of food for everyone. You can provide your own beverages (non-alcoholic, of course) or purchase one from the snack bar. Hope to see you there!

 

OCCC is offering $100 off the membership joining fee through the end of May! Please spread the word to your family and friends! Contact me if you have any questions regarding membership for the 2013 season. I am looking forward to a great summer season.

End of School Year Pizza Party & Swim under the Lights is Thursday, June 13

Pizza orders will be taken (cost & info coming soon.) There will be a cover charge (TBD) to swim from 8-10pm, which is beyond the pool’s regular operating hours.

Guests, accompanied by a member, are welcome, but are required to pay the standard guest fee ($5) and the 8-10pm cover charge.

Baseball/softball field use – Contact Bryant Payne. He can be contacted at 804-754-6771. Currently, there is not charge to use the field, however with the increased interest in using it, we felt the need to install a scheduling process.
